TECHNIQUE - Canvaswork with Raised Stitches
WHAT - Peppermint Candy Stocking

The depth is achieved by placing pads for chair legs then covering them to make the candy peppermints and add depth.  Goes to show, you never know what a stitcher will use to get the desired effect.  Notice that the placement of the peppermints is up to the individual stitcher! The colors are not set yet but you can choose your own once a materials list is published.  Email to reserve your place in the class.

You will need to bring the following to class:
Pencil or Pen for notes
8”x 8” 18 count canvas. Please bind or tape your edges prior to class.
8”x 8” stretcher bars ASSEMBLED but DO NOT tack your canvas to the bars prior to class!
Tacks or staples
Flair, white (1 full card)
Flair, same color as the canvas (1 full card). If not white, an additional 1 – 2 yards may be needed.
Flair and/or Rachel and/or Frosty Rays, 3 – 4 assorted candy colors (12” – 20” per Peppermint)
Metallic ribbons 3 – 4 assorted colors and textures. (1/8” and/or 1/16” wide; 20” per small dot)
3 – 5 colors #5 Perle cotton, Kreinik, and/or Watercolours for plaid cuff (Class samples have 4 colors in a 3/1/5/2 pattern)
 4 yards each for the 3 and 5 rows, 2 yards for the 1 row and 2 ½ yards for the 2 row.
Hard lead pencil or needlepoint marker to trace design on the canvas. If using black canvas, you may want to use a white or light gray marker.
A frame weight or stand, while not required, is very useful
Needles, laying tool, scissors and usual stitching supplies
Lighting, extension cord, magnification as desired
If using black or other dark canvas, a white cloth to drape in your lap is helpful.

Cost includes the kit as well as lunches and snacks for two days.  Please list any dietary needs with your information and check.

Here you will learn the basics of peyote stitch and the infamous stepping up.

Everything you need to complete the project, along with beading mat and extra fun supplies will be included in the kit.   

On Friday Night we will get together and have dinner with Cindy. Plans will be announced as the workshop gets closer.
